Something horrifying crossed my path today. It was a cartoon on MSNBC' website that basically called Pat Tillman various disparaging names. Pat Tillman was the football star who gave up millions to join the military after September 11th and subsequently was killed in action fighting evil in Afghanistan. I'm not going to post the cartoon because I would rather be called a liar then perpetuate that kind of filth. (Update: Apparently MSNBC pulled the cartoon claiming that they allegedly do not screen or review such cartoons before displaying them on their site. This is a common excuse with liberal media outlets. [excuse, failing, weakness, shortcoming] )
This man, and many other like him, died defending the rights of all of us. One of the rights he died defending was the freedom of the press. The corporate media wing that leans left and hates the military have abused this privledge and have attacked the very hand that feeds them.
For those of you who are older than me and remember the 60's, I can help a bit with this. Remember those long, tangly haired people who stumbled around, smelling of vomit and built bombs in their basement to express their brotherhood of humanity? Now those people have short hair, wear suits, and run some of the media outlets. They are up to their old tricks: lying about what the military is doing, shedding crocodile tears for fallen serviemen and women who they then disparage at every opportunity, and even spitting on veterans----again.
Iraq right now is quickly moving into what we would call a modern society. They have clean water for the first time ever, girls go to school for the first time ever, etc. Ask a soldier who was or is over there and they will tell you the same thing. Have you heard anything like that from the media?
I have actually spent some time trying to figure out why the leftist wing of the media is so anti-military. W hy bother? you ask. Not sure. The military swears its allegience to the Constitution and, as you know, leftists aren't big fans of the Constitution. That's one possibility. Another is the military is ultimately responsible for every freedom and luxury that we enjoy in the country and leftists are somewhat like ungrateful children who hate their parents because they resent their dependence on them. Another possibility. In the end, this will be a question for historians, Why were there a minority of people who opposed The Great Era of Freedom?
Some advice for all of you out there. Ignore the anti-military multi-culturalists who would degrade our brave soldiers and subjugate our sovereignty. This is good advice which I have trouble with.
Another is the following: If you see one of these people (for lack of a better word) spitting on a veteran. Call the police! Spitting is considered assault because of this era of AIDS and other diseases. The soldier who was victimized by this viscious hate crime may not because they are very honorable and humble, but us civilians are not as much and will call the cops. Put these anti-military people in a cell. Hopefully, after the election of course, when more Pro-Americans are in office (i.e. conservatives) then attacking a veteran will be made a hate crime as it should be.
